Executive Management

Chief Executive Officer - Chairman of the Board

Mr. Jayson joined U.S. Energy in 2009. Since joining U.S. Energy, he has led various departments including Information Technology, Human Resources and Acquisitions & Divestitures. He previously served as Executive Vice President where his focus was on developing operations in core areas and identifying new business opportunities. Mr. Jayson is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University and received his MBA from Texas Christian University’s Neeley School of Business.  Following his graduation from Johns Hopkins, Mr. Jayson began his career in investment banking, portfolio management and trading in both New York and London.  This included roles as a Junior Portfolio Manager and Trader at Arnhold S. Bleichroeder from 1998-2003, and Assistant Portfolio Manager at S.A.C. Capital from 2003-2009.  Mr. Jayson has attended various institutions for continuing education related to management and the oil & gas industry including The Wharton School of Executive Education, University of Tulsa and University at Buffalo.  Mr. Jayson is an active member of Young Presidents Organization (YPO), National Association of Corporate Directors, Independent Petroleum Association of America and Fort Worth Wildcatters.

Executive Vice President and Director

Mr. Iak joined U.S. Energy in 2005, bringing with him immense success as a Broker as well as in the field of Managed Money where he oversaw clients assets in excess of $1 Billion. Over the last 10 years, Matthew has focused his efforts on the Private Placement, Reg. D space, raising more than $1 Billion for U.S. Energy Development Corporation. In addition to being an active Board Member for U.S. Energy, Mr. Iak is also a member of U.S. Energy’s Gen-2 Leadership and sits as the President for a series of family real estate and real estate management companies. He is also the President and Director of U.S. Energy’s Managing Broker Dealer, Westmoreland Capital Corporation. Always in high demand as a speaker, Matthew is invited frequently to present for a host of organizations within the financial community on oil & gas economics, taxation, and financial planning. Matthew is a graduate of Canisius College and holds his FINRA Series 7, 24, 99, 63, & 66 licenses.

Executive Vice President – Chief Operating Officer

Mr. Blackwell joined U.S. Energy in 2017.  Prior to joining USEDC Mr. Blackwell was the President of Petromax Operating Company an oil and gas exploration and production company focused on resource plays in Texas and Oklahoma. During his tenure as President of Petromax Operating the company acquired over 140,000 net operated and non-operated acres and divested of 5 assets for over $1Billion with average returns of over 300% ROI.  Prior to joining Petromax Operating Mr. Blackwell spent 15 years in the financial services industry in various executive management positions where his management and leadership skills were focused on growing top line revenue and bottom line profits by directing recruiting, operating, strategic planning and sales and marketing initiatives.  Mr. Blackwell received his BSBA in Finance and Accounting from Central Michigan University.

Chief Financial Officer

Senior Executive with over 19 years of diversified accounting experience including external public accounting and internal audits, initial public offering (IPO) readiness, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) implementations, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations, and both U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). As a senior executive, Mr. Rodriguez has served as Chief Accounting Officer, Controller and Director of Internal Audit for several publicly traded companies. Mr. Rodriguez has extensive industry experience serving both public and private clients focusing on construction, energy, healthcare, oilfield services, midstream (pipelines), manufacturing and upstream oil and gas (E&P).

Mr. Rodriguez is a licensed CPA and earned his B.S. in Accounting from Louisiana State University.

Senior Management

Vice President - Operations

Mr. Christianson brings over 14 years of diverse management experience as an Operations Engineer, Project Manager, US Operations Manager, and VP of Operations for upstream Exploration & Production (E&P), service, and technology companies. Before joining U.S. Energy in 2017, Mr. Christianson worked in the Upstream E&P industry as Vice President of Operations of Petromax Operating Company, a private E&P company focused on resource plays in Texas and Oklahoma, managing operations, engineering, evaluation, regulatory/compliance, and aiding Acquisitions & Divestitures efforts. Prior to Petromax, he lead teams and projects at Encana Oil & Gas and Unit Petroleum in all engineering disciplines in multiple basins as part of exploratory teams. Mr. Christianson also Co-Founded Summitview Technologies, a company involved with evaluating and licensing technology in the energy industry and joined startup Impetro Energy as a Technical Manager and later US Operations Manager in creating and deploying next generation of well monitoring device (MWD) technology. Mr. Christianson received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tulsa.

Vice President - Land

Mr. Brown has worked in the oil and gas industry for over 20 years, managing properties in multiple basins. He is a Certified Professional Landman and a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen. Mr. Brown earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of North Texas and his Juris Doctor degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. His responsibilities include property management, due diligence and lease administration.

Vice President - Corporate Development

Mr. Witmer joined U.S. Energy in 2001 as a Staff Geologist, and has held various leadership positions within the geology department including Senior Geologist (2005-2014), Vice President of Geology (2014-2017) and Vice President of Geology & New Ventures (2017-2018).  Mr. Witmer is a Certified Petroleum Geologist (CPG #6366) through the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.  Mr. Witmer has significant experience in a number of basins including the Anadarko Basin, Appalachian Basin, Ardmore Basin, DJ Basin, Fort Worth Basin, Gulf Coast, Permian Basin, South Texas and the Williston Basin.  Mr. Witmer’s experience also includes Acquisitions & Divestitures.  Mr. Witmer received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Geology, Bachelor of Science Degree in Environmental Studies and Master of Science Degree in Geology from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and is currently enrolled in the SMU Executive MBA Program (Class of 2019). Mr. Witmer is a member of AAPG, ADAM Energy Forum (Dallas), ADAM-OKC Energy Network, FWGS, IOGA of NY, PIOGA and BAPG.

Vice President - Finance

Mr. Standifird has served in various positions within the industry including Vice President of Finance and Controller.  He brings extensive experience and exposure to public and private E&P companies and has been a key player in analyzing, negotiating, financing, and closing acquisitions during his career.  Brandon has played a key role in the closing of multiple public and private debt deals including the closing of a syndicated $500MM credit facility as well as a $300MM public debt deal.  Brandon has experience in asset valuations, modeling, hedging, corporate budgeting, and accounting.  Brandon is a graduate of accounting from Brigham Young University and is a certified public accountant.

Vice President - Broker Dealer Relations

Mr. Haven joined U.S. Energy in 2011 after working for several Fortune 500 companies in sales and market management. He holds a FINRA Series 22 license. Mr. Haven received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Canisius College.

Vice President - Technology

Mr. Boyd joined U.S. Energy in 2018 and brings over 12 years of oil and gas technology experience.  Prior to joining USEDC, Mr. Boyd served as IT Director at Petromax Operating Company for 10 years where he designed and managed the company’s information and technology security infrastructure, GIS mapping system, internal databases enabling efficient reporting of key performance indicators, and an array of custom software applications.  In 2016, Mr. Boyd joined WildHorse Resources as Senior Software Engineer where he designed a reporting system that enabled the company to efficiently track key metrics for several major acquisitions for an asset comprising over 400,000 net acres.

Jordan Jayson – Chairman

Robert Woody
Mr. Woody has extensive experience as an executive and board member, including with companies he co-founded in the energy, private equity and insurance businesses. He has also been a partner in two law firms and has served as counsel to a committee of the United Stated Senate and to the U.S. Delegation to the United Nations. Mr. Woody received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science and his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Kansas.

Alan Laurita
Mr. Laurita is a partner in the Buffalo office of Hodgson Russ LLP, a law firm with offices throughout New York State. Alan’s oil and gas industry experience includes serving as senior vice president of Envirogas Inc., a large, privately held oil and gas exploration and production company that had more than 1,600 wells primarily in the northern Appalachian Basin and was the largest operator in New York at the time. His work at Envirogas included supervising the company’s land department; coordinating all drilling operations; handling purchase, sale, and mortgage transactions and title work; negotiating resolutions of transactional and other types of disputes; and representing the company before regulatory agencies such as the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, and the New York State Public Service Commission. Mr. Laurita received Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Juris Doctorate Degrees from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Christer Rundolf
Mr. Rundlof has a broad business background, having worked as an engineer, in investment banking, and is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of WhiteWater Midstream. Christer has 20 years of experience across multiple industries including midstream, equities investing, investment banking advisory, and manufacturing. Prior to founding WhiteWater Midstream, Christer served as Vice President of Business Development for Canyon Midstream Partners. Previously, Christer was Director of Business Development for DCP Midstream. In addition, Christer was a Senior Analyst for S.A.C. Capital, an Associate for J.P. Morgan, a Six Sigma Business Team Manager at Black & Decker, and Production Engineer at Praxair Surface Technologies. Christer received a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
